![]() CHICAGO PROJECT - THE MUSEUMS Every kid is dragged to the museums in their local area and Chicago is no exception. Well maybe one exception, most of the Musuems here rocked, even for a kid. Whether it be a school trip, or a visiting Aunt as in my case, we knocked off the Museums like ducks in a row. It is a kick to visit the Museum of Science and Industry and still see an exhibit or two that has survived over the years. The giant walk-through heart, Paul Bunyan's cabin, the Jazz trio movie with light-interruptable sound, the Hall of Whispers, the gigantic train set, Spirit of St. Louis and the "working" coal mine.. Some aging exhibits bring a chuckle with their promise of a day that phones can view the caller on a small television. Newer Museums have come and technology marches on but the mainstays are dug in, inside their massive concrete palaces, showing their wares. I bet more than half the people who have grown up here and left did not realize what paintings the Art Institute has had and still has. Only in Chicago can you see the following, for example:
Of course, this is just an inkling of what's in store. But besides the love of art, we have the love the fish, animals, planets, IMax movies ad-nauseum. Here are links to the best Museums in the
world .... all in Chicago.
